حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ
جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَقَدْ وَهَبَتُ نَفْسِي لَكَ فَصَمَتَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ فِيهَا حَاجَةٌ فَزَوِّجْنِيهَا فَقَالَ «أَلَكَ شَيْءٌ؟» قَالَ لَا وَاللهِ قَالَ «فَهَلْ تَقْرَأُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْئًا؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَقَدْ مَلَّكْتُكَهَا بِمَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ»

✧ A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, I have given myself to you as a gift." He remained silent. A man from the Ansar said: "O Messenger of God, if you have no need of her, then marry her to me." He said: "Do you have anything (as a dowry)?" He said: "No, by God." He said: "Can you recite anything from the Qur'an?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then I have given her to you in marriage for what you have of the Qur'an."
