✧ A young man from the Anṣār had recently married. He went out with the Prophet ﷺ on a military expedition, but he returned from the road to look at his family. He found a woman standing in the chamber, so he aimed his spear at her. She said, 'Enter and see what is in the house.' He entered and found a snake coiled on his bed, so he pierced it with his spear. Then he planted the spear in the courtyard. The snake convulsed and the man convulsed, so the snake died and the man died. That was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'Muslim jinn have settled in Madinah,' or he said, 'These houses have inhabitants. When you see any of them, seek refuge from it, and if it returns, then kill it.'
