حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ
أَنَّهُ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَقْبَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي جِئْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَهَبُ لَكَ نَفْسِي فَصَعَّدَ فِيهَا النَّظَرَ وَصَوَّبَهُ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مَا عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا ثَوْبٌ وَاحِدٌ عَاقِدٌ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عُنُقَهِ فَقَالَ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ بِهَا حَاجَةٌ فَزَوِّجْنِيهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ «أَعِنْدَكَ شَيْءٌ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَلَا بُدَّ لَهَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَاذْهَبْ فَالْتَمِسْ» فَذَهَبَ فَالْتَمَسَ فَلَمْ يَجِدْ شَيْئًا فَرَجَعَ فَقَالَ لَمْ أَجِدْ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اذْهَبْ فَالْتَمِسْ وَلَوْ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ» فَذَهَبَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَقَالَ وَلَا خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ لَمْ أَجِدْهُ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ؟» فَقَالَ سُورَةُ كَذَا وَسُورَةُ كَذَا فَقَالَ «قَدْ زَوَّجْتُكَهَا عَلَى مَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ»

✧ He said: While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ, a woman came to him and said: "I have come, O Messenger of God, to give myself to you." He raised his gaze upon her and lowered it, then he was silent. A man who had nothing on but a single garment, tying its two ends around his neck, stood up and said: "If you have no need of her, marry her to me." He said to him: "Do you have anything?" He said: "No." He said: "Then she must have something. Go and seek." He went and sought but found nothing and returned, saying: "I found nothing." The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: "Go and seek, even if it is an iron ring." He went and returned, saying: "Not even an iron ring; I did not find one." Then he sat down. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: "What do you have of the Qur'an?" He said: "Surah so-and-so and Surah so-and-so." He said: "I have married her to you for what you have of the Qur'an."
