حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْخَفَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيَّ

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ فِي جُحْرٍ مِنْ بَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِدْرًى يُرَجِّلُ أَوْ يَحُكُّ بِهِ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَنْتَظِرُنِي لَطَعَنْتُ بِهِ فِي عَيْنِكَ إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِذْنُ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبَصَرِ»

✧ He informed him that a man looked through a hole in the door of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a comb with which he was combing or scratching his head. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If I knew that you were waiting for me, I would poke it into your eye. Permission was only made for the sake of sight.”
