✧ Said bin Musayyib narrates from Sahl bin Saad

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ أَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ فِي جُحْرٍ فِي بَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِدْرًى يَحُكُّ بِهِ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَنْتَظِرُنِي لَطَعَنْتُ بِهِ فِي عَيْنِكَ إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ السِّتْرُ لِلْإِذْنِ» أَوْ قَالَ «مِنْ أَجْلِ النَّظَرِ»

✧ He informed him that a man looked through a hole in the door of the Prophet ﷺ, while the Prophet ﷺ had a comb with which he was scratching his head. The Prophet ﷺ said: “If I knew that you were waiting for me, I would poke it into your eye. The curtain was only made for permission,” or he said, “for the sake of looking.”
