✧ Said bin Musayyib narrates from Sahl bin Saad

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنَ الْحُجْرَةِ وَفِي يَدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِدْرًى فَقَالَ «لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا يَنْتَظِرُنِي حَتَّى آتِيَهُ لَطَعَنْتُ بِالْمِدْرَى فِي عَيْنَيْهِ وَهَلْ جُعِلَ الِاسْتِئْذَانُ إِلَّا مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبَصَرِ»

✧ He informed him that a man looked at the Prophet ﷺ from the room, while the Prophet ﷺ had a comb in his hand. He said: “If I knew that this man was waiting for me to come to him, I would poke the comb into his eyes. Was permission to enter made except for the sake of sight?”
