al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 5370

✧ Saad b. Ubadah al-Ansari, then al-Khazraji, a follower from Badr and Uhud, a captain, known as Abu Thabit, he stayed in Sham and passed away there.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمُّهُ وَهُوَ غَائِبٌ عَنْهَا فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهَا شَيْءٌ إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِهِ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قَالَ فَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أنَّ حَائِطَيِ الْمِخْرَافِ صَدَقَةٌ عَنْهَا

✧ He said to the Prophet ﷺ, "My mother died while I was absent from her. Will anything benefit her if I give charity on her behalf?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Then I call you to witness that my walled garden of Mikhraf is a charity on her behalf."
