✧ Saad b. Ubadah al-Ansari, then al-Khazraji, a follower from Badr and Uhud, a captain, known as Abu Thabit, he stayed in Sham and passed away there.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ بُنْدَارٌ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ اسْتَفْتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي دَيْنٍ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّهِ رَقَبَةٌ أَفَأُعْتِقُ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

✧ Sa'd b. 'Ubādah sought a ruling from the Messenger of God ﷺ concerning a debt upon his mother: a slave [was owed]. "Should I free one on her behalf?" He said, "Yes."
