حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ أَنَّ مُعَاذًا قَالَ

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ يَسْجُدُونَ لِأَسَاقِفَتِهِمْ وَبَطَارِقَتِهِمْ؟ أَفَلَا نَسْجُدُ لَكَ؟ قَالَ «لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لِأَحَدٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا وَلَا تُؤَدِّي الْمَرْأَةُ حَقَّ زَوْجِهَا حَتَّى لَوْ سَأَلَهَا نَفْسَهَا عَلَى قَتَبٍ لَأَعْطَتْهُ»

✧ I said: O Messenger of God, do you see the People of the Book prostrating to their bishops and their patricians? Should we not prostrate to you? He said: "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone, I would command the woman to prostrate to her husband. And the woman does not fulfill her husband's right, even if he asked her for herself while on a camel saddle, she would give it to him."
