حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ جَمِيعًا عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَالَ انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَحُصَيْنُ بْنُ سَبْرَةَ وَعُمَرُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ إِلَى زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ فَلَمَّا جَلَسْنَا إِلَيْهِ قَالَ

لَهُ حُصَيْنُ بْنُ سَبْرَةَ يَا زَيْدُ رَأَيْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَسَمِعْتَ حَدِيثَهُ وَغَزَوْتَ مَعَهُ لَقَدْ أَصَبْتَ يَا زَيْدُ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا حَدِّثْنَا يَا زَيْدُ مَا شَهِدْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَا سَمِعْتَ قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي وَاللهِ لَقَدْ كَبِرَتْ سِنِّي وَقَدِمَ عَهْدِي وَنَسِيتُ بَعْضَ الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَعِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَا أُحَدِّثُكُمْ فَاقْبَلُوهُ وَمَا لَمْ أُحَدِّثْكُمُوهُ فَلَا تُكَلِّفُونِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا فِينَا خَطِيبًا بِمَاءٍ يُدْعَى خُمٌّ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ ﷻ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَوَعَظَ وَذَكَرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَمَّا بَعْدُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بِشْرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِنِي رَسُولُ رَبِّي فَأُجِيبَهُ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللهِ فِيهِ الْهُدَى وَالنُّورُ فَخُذُوا بِكِتَابِ اللهِ وَاسْتَمْسِكُوا بِهِ» فَحَثَّ عَلَى كِتَابِ اللهِ وَرَغَّبَ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَهْلُ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي» قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا قَالَ لَهُ حُصَيْنٌ مَنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ يَا زَيْدُ أَلَيْسَ نِسَاؤُهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّ نِسَاءَهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ مَنْ حُرِمَ الصَّدَقَةَ بَعْدَهُ» قَالَ وَمَنْ هُمْ؟ قَالَ «هُمْ آلُ عَلِيٍّ وَآلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَآلُ الْعَبَّاسِ وَآلُ عَقِيلٍ» قِيلَ كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ حَرَّمَ الصَّدَقَةَ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

✧ Husayn b. Sabrah said to him: O Zayd, you saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, heard his words, and campaigned with him. You have indeed attained much good, O Zayd. Narrate to us what you witnessed from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and what you heard. He said: O son of my brother, by Allah, my age has advanced, my time has passed, and I have forgotten some of what I used to memorize from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Whatever I narrate to you, accept it; and whatever I do not narrate, do not compel me. Then he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood one day among us as a preacher at a watering place called Khumm, between Makkah and Madinah. He praised Allah, exalted be He, extolled Him, admonished, and reminded. Then he said: “To proceed, O people, I am only a human being; the messenger of my Lord is about to come to me and I will answer him. I am leaving among you two weighty things: one of them is the Book of Allah, in which is guidance and light. So take hold of the Book of Allah and cling to it.” He urged adherence to the Book of Allah and encouraged it. Then he said: “My household—I remind you of Allah concerning my household,” saying it three times. Husayn said to him: Who are the people of his house, O Zayd? Are not his wives among the people of his house? He said: “His wives are among the people of his house, but the people of his house are those who are forbidden from charity after him.” He said: Who are they? He said: “They are the family of Ali, the family of Ja'far, the family of al-Abbas, and the family of Aqil.” It was said: Are all of these forbidden from charity? He said: “Yes.”
