✧ Then, Thumamah bin Uqbah al-Muhlami, on the authority of Zaid bin Arqam

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ الْمَازِنِيُّ ثنا كَثِيرُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ حَيَّانَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَعِتْرَتِي فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ تَخْلُفُونِي فِيهِمَا» قُلْنَا وَمَنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ؟ قَالَ «آلُ عَلِيٍّ وَآلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَآلُ عَقِيلٍ وَآلُ الْعَبَّاسٍ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I am leaving among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my family. So watch how you treat them after me.” We said: Who are the people of his house? He said: “The family of Ali, the family of Ja'far, the family of Aqil, and the family of al-Abbas.”
