حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ وَيَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ قَالَا ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَخْبَرَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ عِبَادٍ الدِّيلِيُّ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ بِسُوقِ ذِي الْمَجَازِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قُولُوا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ تُفْلِحُوا فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُرَدِّدُهَا مِرَارًا وَالنَّاسُ مُتَصَفُّونَ عَلَيْهِ يَتَّبِعُونَهُ وَإِذَا وَرَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ أَحْوَلُ ذُو غَدِيرَتَيْنِ وَضِيءُ الْوَجْهِ يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ صَابِئٌ كَاذِبٌ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَسَأَلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا فَقَالُوا هَذَا عَمُّهُ أَبُو لَهَبٍ

✧ I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the pre-Islamic period at the market of Dhu al-Majaz saying, “O people, say there is no god but Allah and you will prosper.” He kept repeating it many times while people were lined up around him following him, and behind him was a cross-eyed man with two long locks of hair and a bright face, saying, “He is a renegade, a liar,” twice. I asked, “Who is this?” They said, “This is his uncle Abu Lahab.”
