حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شُعَيْبٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ

قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي هُدْنَةِ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ رِفَاعَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ الْجُذَامِيُّ فَأَهْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غُلَامًا وَأَسْلَمَ فَحَسُنَ إِسْلَامُهُ وَكَتَبَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ كِتَابًا فِيهِ «بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ هَذَا كِتَابٌ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللهِ لِرَفَاعَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ إِنِّي بَعَثْتُهُ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ عَامَّةً وَمَنْ دَخَلَ فِيهِمْ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى اللهِ وَإِلَى رَسُولِهِ فَمَنْ أَقْبَلَ فَفِي حِزْبِ اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَمَنْ أَدْبَرَ فَلَهُ أَمَانٌ شَهْرَيْنِ» فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ رِفَاعَةُ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ أَجَابُوا وَأَسْلَمُوا

✧ Rifa'ah b. Zayd al-Judhami came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the truce of al-Hudaybiyyah, and he gave the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a servant boy as a gift, and he embraced Islam, and his Islam was good. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote for him to his people a letter, in which was: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is a letter from Muhammad the Messenger of Allah to Rifa'ah b. Zayd. I have sent him to his people generally, and to those who enter among them, calling them to Allah and to His Messenger. Whoever accepts is in the party of Allah and His Messenger, and whoever turns away has a guarantee of safety for two months." When Rifa'ah came to his people, they responded and embraced Islam.
