حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِعُمَرَ «اجْمَعْ لِي قَوْمَكَ» فَجَمَعَهُمْ فَكَانُوا بِالْبَابِ فَقَالَ «هَلْ فِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ؟» قَالُوا لَا ابْنُ أُخْتِنَا وَمَوْلَانَا فَقَالَ «ابْنُ أُخْتِكُمْ وَمَوْلَاكُمْ مِنْكُمْ» فَقَالَ «إِنَّ أَوْلِيَائِيَ مِنْكُمُ الْمُتَّقُونَ إِيَّاكُمْ أنْ يَأْتُونِي النَّاسُ بِالْأَعْمَالِ وتَجِيئُونِي بِالْأَثْقَالِ تَحْمِلُونَهَا عَلَى ظُهُورِكُمْ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا أَهْلُ صَبْرٍ وَأَمَانَةٍ فَمَنْ بَغَى لَهُمُ الْعَوَاثِرَ أَكَبَّهُ اللهُ لِوَجْهِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said to ʿUmar: “Gather your people for me.” So he gathered them, and they were at the door. He said: “Is there anyone among you from other than you?” They said: “No, except the son of our sister and our freedman.” He said: “The son of your sister and your freedman are from you.” Then he said: “Indeed, my allies among you are the God-fearing. Beware lest people come to me with good deeds and you come to me with heavy burdens that you carry on your backs.” Then he said: “Indeed, Quraysh are people of endurance and trustworthiness. Whoever seeks for them the stumbles, Allah will cast him down on his face on the Day of Resurrection.”
