حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ خَبَّابَ بْنَ الْأَرَتِّ يَقُولُ إِنَّا هَاجَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَبْتَغِي وَجْهَ اللهِ ﷻ فَوَجَبَ أَجْرُنَا عَلَى اللهِ فَمِنَّا مَنْ مَضَى وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْ حَسَنَاتِهِ شَيْئًا مِنْهُمْ مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ قُتِلَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ وَتَرَكَ بُرْدَةً إِذَا جَعَلْنَاهَا عَلَى رِجْلَيْهِ بَدَا رَأْسُهُ وَإِذَا جَعَلْنَاهَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ بَدَتْ رِجْلَاهُ «فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ نَجْعَلَهَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَنَجْعَلَ عَلَى رِجْلَيْهِ شَيْئًا مِنَ الْإِذْخِرِ وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَيْنَعَتْ لَهُ ثَمَرَتُهُ فَهُوَ يَهْدِبُهَا» يَعْنِي يَأْكُلُهَا

✧ I heard Khabbab b. al-Aratt say: We emigrated with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking the face of Allah ﷻ, so our reward became incumbent upon Allah. Among us were those who passed away without eating any of their good deeds. Among them was Mus'ab b. 'Umayr, who was killed on the day of Uhud and left behind a striped cloak. When we placed it over his feet, his head was exposed, and when we placed it over his head, his feet were exposed. The Prophet ﷺ commanded us to place it over his head and to place something of idhkhir on his feet. And among us are those whose fruit has ripened for them, and they are picking it, meaning eating it.
