حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَوْدِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ
يُقَالُ لَهُ حُمَمَةُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ خَرَجَ غَازِيًا إِلَى أَصْبَهَانَ فِي خِلَافَةِ عُمَرَ ؓ وَفُتِحَتْ أَصْبَهَانُ فَقَالَ حُمَمَةُ «اللهُمَّ إِنَّ حُمَمَةَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ يُحِبُّ لِقَاكَ فَإِنْ كَانَ صَادِقًا فَاعْزِمْ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ بِصَدَقَةٍ وَإِنْ كَانَ كَاذِبًا فَاعْزِمْ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنْ كَرِهَ» فَأَخَذَهُ الْبَطْنُ فَمَاتَ بأَصْبَهَانَ فَقَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا وَاللهِ مَا سَمِعْنَا فِيمَا سَمِعْنَا مِنْ نَبِيِّكُمْ ﷺ وَمَا بَلَغَ عِلْمُنَا إِلَّا وَأَنَّ حُمَمَةَ شَهِيدٌ

✧ He is called Humamah, one of the companions of Muhammad ﷺ. He went out as a warrior to Isfahan during the caliphate of Umar ؓ, and Isfahan was conquered. Humamah said, "O Allah, Humamah claims that he loves to meet You. If he is truthful, then decree for him upon it with sincerity, and if he is lying, then decree for him upon it even if he dislikes it." Then he was seized by a stomach illness and died in Isfahan. Abu Musa said, "O people, by Allah, we have not heard in what we have heard from your Prophet ﷺ and what our knowledge has reached except that Humamah is a martyr."
