حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الصَّقْرِ السُّكَّرِيُّ ثنا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ
أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ سَبْعِينَ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ كَانُوا إِذَا جَنَّهُمُ اللَّيْلُ آوَوْا إِلَى مُعَلِّمٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَيَبِيتُونَ يَدْرُسُونَ الْقُرْآنَ فَإِذَا أَصْبَحُوا فَمَنْ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ قُوَّةٌ أَصَابَ مِنَ الْحَطَبِ وَاسْتَعْذَبَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ سَعَةٌ أَصَابُوا الشَّاةَ فَأَصْلَحُوها فَكَانَتْ تُصْبِحُ مُعَلَّقَةً بِحَجَرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا أُصِيبَ خُبَيْبٌ بَعَثَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ فِيهِمْ خَالِي حَرَامٌ وَأَتَوْا حَيًّا مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالَ حَرَامٌ لِأَمِيرِهِمْ أَلَا أُخْبِرُ هَؤُلَاءِ أَنَّا لَسْنَا إِيَّاهُمْ نُرِيدُ فَيُخَلُّوا وُجُوهَنَا؟ قَالَ فَأَتَاهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ ذَاكَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ بِرُمْحٍ فَأَنْفَذَهُ بِهِ فَلَمَّا وَجَدَ حَرَامٌ مَسَّ الرُّمْحِ فِي جَوْفِهِ قَالَ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ فُزْتُ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ فَأَبْطَئُوا عَلَيْهِمْ فَمَا بَقِيَ مِنْهُمْ مُخْبِرٌ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَجَدَ عَلَى سَرِيَّةٍ وَجْدَهُ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ أَنَسٌ «لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كُلَّمَا صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ يَدْعُو عَلَيْهِمْ» فَلَمَّا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ أَتَاهُ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ فَقَالَ لِي هَلْ لَكَ فِي قَاتَلِ حَرَامٍ؟ قُلْتُ مَالَهُ فَعَلَ اللهُ بِهِ وَفَعَلَ فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ لَا تَفْعَلْ فَقَدْ أَسْلَمَ

✧ He mentioned seventy of the Ansar. When night fell upon them, they would retire to a teacher in Madinah and spend the night studying the Quran. When morning came, those who had strength would gather firewood and fetch fresh water, and those who had means would get a sheep and prepare it. It would be hanging by a stone of the Messenger of God ﷺ in the morning. When Khubayb was killed, the Messenger of God ﷺ sent them out, and among them was my maternal uncle Haram. They came to a clan of Banu Sulaym. Haram said to their commander: Shall I tell these people that we are not after them, so that they leave us alone? He said: So he went to them and told them that. A man among them met him with a spear and thrust it through him. When Haram felt the touch of the spear in his belly, he said: God is greatest! I have won, by the Lord of the Ka‘bah. They were delayed against them, and no one survived to bring news. I never saw the Messenger of God ﷺ grieve over an expedition as he grieved over them. Anas said: “I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ every time he prayed the dawn prayer raise his hands supplicating against them.” After that, Abu Talhah came to me and said: Would you like to confront the killer of Haram? I said: What is the matter with him? May God do to him and do. Abu Talhah said: Do not do that, for he has accepted Islam.
