حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاهَوَيْهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ أَبِي النَّجُودِ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ الْبَكْرِيِّ قَالَ
قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَبِلَالٌ قَائِمٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مَتَقَلِّدًا بِالسَّيْفِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا رَايَاتٌ سُودٌ وَسَأَلْتُ مَا هَذِهِ الرَّايَاتُ؟ فَقَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ قَدِمَ مِنْ غَزَاةٍ

✧ We arrived in Madinah, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the minbar, with Bilal standing before him, girded with a sword before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and there were black banners. I asked, “What are these banners?” ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ said, “He has returned from a military expedition.”
