حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ قَالَ

مَرَرْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَعَهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَقَاعِدِ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَجَزْتُ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفْتُ وَرَجَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ لِي «هَلْ رَأَيْتَ الَّذِي كَانَ مَعِي؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَإِنَّهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَقَدْ رَدَّ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ»

✧ I passed by the Messenger of God ﷺ while Gabriel ﷺ was sitting with him in the sitting places, and I greeted him and then went on. When I finished and the Prophet ﷺ returned, he said to me, "Did you see the one who was with me?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Indeed, he was Gabriel ﷺ, and he returned the greeting to you."
