حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْقُرْمُطِيُّ الْعَدَوِيُّ ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ الْمَدَنِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي الرِّجَالِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثٌ لَازِمَاتٌ لِأُمَّتِي الطِّيَرَةُ وَالْحَسَدُ وَسُوءُ الظَّنِّ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مَا يُذْهِبُهُنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مِمَّنْ هُوَ فِيهِ؟ قَالَ «إِذَا حَسَدْتَ فَاسْتَغْفَرِ اللهَ وَإِذَا ظَنَنْتَ فَلَا تُحَقِّقْ وَإِذَا تَطَيَّرْتَ فَامْضِ»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: Three things are inseparable from my nation: belief in omens, envy, and bad thoughts. A man said, "What removes them, O Messenger of God, from the one who has them?" He said, "If you envy, seek forgiveness from God; if you think badly, do not act on it; and if you foresee an evil omen, proceed."
