حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ وَالْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَارِجَةَ قَالُوا ثنا شِهَابُ بْنُ خِرَاشِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ حَدَّثَنِي شُعَيْبُ بْنُ زُرَيْقٍ الطَّائِيُّ قَالَ

جَلَسْتُ إِلَى رَجُلٍ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ حَزْنٍ الْكُلْفِيُّ فَأَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ وَفَدْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَابِعَ سَبْعَةٍ أَوْ تَاسِعَ تِسْعَةٍ فَاسْتُؤْذِنَ لَنَا فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ زُرْنَاكَ لِتَدْعُوَ لَنَا بِخَيْرٍ فَدَعَا لَنَا بِخَيْرٍ وَأَمَرَ بِنَا فَأُنْزِلْنَا وَأَمَرَ لَنَا بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ وَالشَّأْنُ إِذْ ذَاكَ دُونٌ فَلَبِثْنَا بِهَا أَيَّامًا شَهِدْنَا بِهَا الْجُمُعَةَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَامَ مُتَوَكِّئًا عَلَى قَوْسٍ أَوْ عَصًا فَحَمِدَ اللهَ ﷻ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ كَلِمَاتٍ خَفِيفَاتٍ طَيِّبَاتٍ مُبَارَكَاتٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تُطِيقُوا وَلَنْ تَفْعَلُوا كَمَا أُمِرْتُمْ بِهِ وَلَكِنْ سَدِّدُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا»

✧ I sat with a man who had been a companion of the Prophet ﷺ, called al-Hakam b. Hazn al-Kulfi, and he began to narrate. He said: I came as a delegate to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the seventh of seven or the ninth of nine. Permission was sought for us, and we entered upon him. We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we have come to you so that you may supplicate for good for us.' He supplicated for good for us, ordered that we be lodged, and ordered for us some dates. At that time the situation was humble. We stayed there for some days, and we attended the Friday prayer with the Prophet ﷺ. He stood leaning on a bow or a staff, praised Allah Almighty, and extolled Him with light, good, blessed words, then said: 'O people, you will never be able to do all that you have been commanded, but aim for what is right and rejoice.'
