✧ His father wrote a letter to the disbelievers of Quraysh while he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, having witnessed Badr. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called 'Ali and al-Zubayr and said, 'Go until you catch up with a woman who has a letter. Bring it to me.' They went until they met her and said, 'Give us the letter that is with you.' They told her that they would not turn back until they stripped every garment from her. She said, 'Are you not two Muslim men?' They said, 'Yes, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told us that you have a letter.' When she was certain that she could not escape them, she untied the letter from her head and handed it to them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Hatib until he read the letter to him and said, 'Do you recognize this letter?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'What made you do that?' He said, 'There I have children and relatives, and I was a stranger among you, O group of Quraysh.' 'Umar said, 'Permit me to kill Hatib.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'No, for he witnessed Badr. You do not know, perhaps Allah looked upon the people of Badr and said, "Do whatever you wish, for I have forgiven you."'
