✧ Ali ؓ said: "Shall I not tell you about my own special self and my household?" We said: "Yes." He said: "As for Hasan, he is a man of large bowls and a table, a youth among the youths. If the two loops of the girth meet, he will not avail you in war more than a sparrow's snare. As for Abdullah b. Jafar, he is a man of amusement, shade, and falsehood. Let not the two sons of Abbas deceive you. As for me and Husayn, I and Husayn are of you and you are of us. By Allah, I fear that these people will be given power over you because of their uprightness in their land and your corruption in yours, their discharging the trust and your betrayal, their obedience to their leader and your disobedience to him, their unity upon their falsehood and your division over your truth, until their rule lasts long, until they leave no sacred thing of Allah but they make it lawful, and no town dweller or desert dweller remains but their oppression enters upon him, and until one of you becomes a follower of them, and until one of you's support from them is like the slave's support from his master: when he is present he obeys him, and when he is absent he reviles him, and until the wealthiest of you in it is the one with the best opinion of Allah. If Allah brings you well-being, accept it; if you are tested, be patient, for the outcome belongs to the God-fearing."
