حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ أَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ

ذُكِرَ الطَّاعُونُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ رِجْزٌ أَصَابَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَوْ عَذَابٌ أَصَابَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِبَلَدٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَأَنْتُمْ بِبَلَدٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ»

✧ The plague was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: “It is a punishment that befell those before you, or a torment that befell those before you. So if you hear of it in a town, do not enter upon it; and if it occurs while you are in a town, do not leave fleeing from it.”
