حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
كَأَنِّي قَدْ دُعِيتُ فَأَجَبْتُ فَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلَ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ تَخْلُفُونِي فِيهِمَا

✧ It is as if I have been called and I answered. I am leaving among you the two weighty things: the Book of Allah, a rope stretched between heaven and earth, and my progeny, my household. They will never separate until they return to me at the pool. So consider carefully how you succeed me in them.
