✧ From Ishaq b. Abi Habibah, the freedman of the Messenger of God ﷺ, from Abu Hurayrah, that Marwan b. al-Hakam came to Abu Hurayrah during his final illness and said: "O Abu Hurayrah, I have not found fault with you in anything since we have been companions except in your love for al-Hasan and al-Husayn." Abu Hurayrah stirred and sat up and said: "I bear witness that we went out with the Messenger of God ﷺ, and when we were on part of the road, the Messenger of God ﷺ heard the sound of al-Hasan and al-Husayn crying while they were with their mother. He hastened his pace until he reached them, and I heard him say to her: 'What is the matter with my two sons?' She said: 'Thirst.' The Messenger of God ﷺ turned back to a water skin seeking water in it—water that day was in pools, and the people were seeking water. He called out: 'Does any of you have water with him?' Not one remained but that he turned his hand to his hook, seeking water in a water skin, and not one of them found a drop. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Hand me one of them.' She handed him one from beneath the curtain, and I saw the whiteness of her forearms when she handed him. He took him and pressed him to his chest while he was crying and would not be quiet. He stuck out his tongue for him, and he began to suck it until he calmed down or became still, and I no longer heard him crying. The other one kept crying and would not be quiet. He said: 'Hand me the other one.' She handed him to him, and he did the same with him, so they both became quiet, and I heard no sound from them. Then he said: 'Move on.' We dispersed right and left away from the women's litters until we met him on the main road. So should I not love these two when I have seen this from the Messenger of God ﷺ?"
