حَّدَثَنا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ
«تَصَدَّقَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ بِشَطْرِ مَالِهِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافٍ ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفًا ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى خَمْسِمِائَةِ فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى أَلْفٍ وَخَمْسِمِائَةِ رَاحِلَةٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَكَانَ عَامَّةُ مَالِهِ مِنَ التِّجَارَةِ»

✧ Abd al-Rahman b. Awf gave half his wealth in charity during the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ—four thousand. Then he gave forty thousand [dirhams]. Then he gave forty thousand dinars. Then he equipped five hundred horses in the path of God. Then he equipped one thousand five hundred camels in the path of God. Most of his wealth came from trade.
