حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْهَيْصَمِ ثنا زِيَادُ بْنُ سَيَّارٍ عَنْ عَزَّةَ بِنْتِ عِيَاضٍ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا قِرْصَافَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ
لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ لَكَ عَقِبٌ؟» قُلْتُ لِي أَخٌ قَالَ «فَجِئْ بِهِ» فَرَفَقْتُ بِأَخِي وَكَانَ غُلَامًا صَغِيرًا حَتَّى جَاءَ مَعِي فَلَمَّا دَنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ هَرَبَ فَأَخَذْتُهُ فَضَمَمْتُ يَدَيْهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ ثُمَّ جِئْتُ بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَبَايَعَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَكَانَ اسْمُهُ مِيسَمًا فَقَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَا اسْمُهُ يَا أَبَا قِرْصَافَةَ؟» قُلْتُ اسْمُهُ مِيسَمٌ قَالَ «بَلِ اسْمُهُ مُسْلِمٌ» فَقُلْتُ مُسْلِمٌ مَعَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Do you have any offspring?” I said: “I have a brother.” He said: “Then bring him.” I was gentle with my brother, and he was a young boy, until he came with me. When he drew near to the Prophet ﷺ, he fled, so I caught him and held his hands and feet together, then brought him to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ accepted his pledge of allegiance. His name was Misam, so the Prophet ﷺ said to me: “What is his name, O Abu Qirsafah?” I said: “His name is Misam.” He said: “Rather, his name is Muslim.” So I said: “Muslim is with you, O Messenger of Allah.”
