✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the beginning of the day, and some bedouins came, barefoot, naked, clad in striped woolen cloaks, with swords and cloaks upon them. I said: “Most of them are from Mudar; rather, all of them are from Mudar.” I saw the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ change when he saw their condition. He stood up and entered, then ordered Bilal, who gave the call to prayer and the iqamah. Then he came out and prayed Zuhr and delivered a sermon: “O people, fear your Lord, who created you from a single soul…” He recited the verse up to His saying: “And let every soul look to what it has sent forth for tomorrow.” He said: “A man should give charity from his dirham, a man should give charity from his dinar, from a sa' of his dates, from a sa' of his barley, from such and such…” until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned even half a date. Then a man came with a purse that his hand could barely hold, or indeed could not hold. He said: And the people followed one after another until I saw two heaps of food and clothing. I saw the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ brighten as if it were gilded. Then he said: “Whoever introduces a good, righteous practice in Islam has its reward and the reward of those who act upon it after him until the Day of Resurrection, without any decrease in their rewards. And whoever introduces an evil practice in Islam bears its burden and the burden of those who act upon it after him until the Day of Resurrection, without any decrease in their burdens.”
