حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ وَمَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَا ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ سَمِعَ قَيْسَ بْنَ أَبِي حَازِمٍ سَمِعَ جَرِيرًا قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَلَا تَكْفِينِي ذَا الْخُلَّصَةِ» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي رَجُلٌ لَا أَثْبُتُ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ فَصَكَّ فِي صَدْرِي وَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا» قَالَ فَخَرَجْتُ إِلَيْهَا فِي خَمْسِينَ مِنْ قَوْمِي فَحَرَّقْتُها بِالنَّارِ فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا أَتَيْتُكَ حَتَّى تَرَكْتُهَا مِثْلَ الْجُمَلِ الْأَجْرَدِ فَدَعَا لِأَحْمَسَ خَيْلِهَا وَرِجَالِهَا ثَلَاثًا

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Will you not suffice me against Dhul-Khalasah?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am a man who is not steady on horses." He struck me on my chest and said: "O Allah, make him guided and guiding." He said: So I went out to it with fifty of my people and burned it with fire, then returned to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I did not come to you until I left it like a hairless camel." So he prayed for Ahmas, its horses and its men, three times.
