✧ I recognized in the speech of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ hunger. He said, “Do you have anything?” She said, “Yes.” She brought out flat loaves of barley, then brought out a headcover of hers and wrapped the bread in it, then sent me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I went and found the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the mosque with people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, “Did Abu Talhah send you?” I said, “Yes.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to those with him, “Get up.” So he set off, and I went ahead of them until I came to Abu Talhah and told him. Abu Talhah said, “O Umm Sulaym, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has come with the people, and we do not have enough food to satisfy them.” She said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” Abu Talhah went out until we reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah came forward with Abu Talhah until they entered. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Bring what you have, O Umm Sulaym.” She brought that bread, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered it to be crumbled. Umm Sulaym squeezed a small skin of ghee and used it as a condiment. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said over it whatever Allah willed him to say, then said, “Give permission to ten.” He gave them permission, and they ate until they were full, then left. Then he said, “Give permission to ten,” and they ate until they were full, then left. Then he said, “Give permission to ten,” and they ate until they were full, then left. Then he said, “Give permission to ten,” and they ate until they were full, then left. Then he said, “Give permission to ten,” and all the people ate until they were full. The people were seventy or eighty.
