حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْيَزَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي بَصْرَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَهُمْ إِنِّي أَرْكَبُ إِلَى يَهُودَ فَمَنِ انْطَلَقَ مَعِي مِنْكُمْ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمُ السَّلَامَ فَإِنْ سَلَّمُوا فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ فَلَمَّا جِئْنَاهُمْ سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْنَا فَقُلْنَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: "I am riding out to the Jews. Whoever goes with me among you should not initiate the greeting of peace to them. If they greet you, then say, 'And upon you.'" So when we came to them, they greeted us, and we said, "And upon you."
