حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي الْعَنْبَرِ عَنْ قَيْلَةَ قَالَتْ
أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ بَعْضَ الصَّلَاةِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ قُمْتُ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيَّ وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ طَوِيلَةً فَقَالَ إِنْ كَانَ ابْنُ هَذِهِ لَيُقَاتِلُ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحَاجِزِ قَالَتْ وَاللهِ إِنْ كَانَ لَكَذَلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَلَكِنَّهُ مَاتَ قَالَتْ اكْتُبْ لِي كِتَابًا قَالَتْ وَمَعِي ثَلَاثُ بَنَاتٍ فَكَتَبَ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللهِ لِقَيْلَةَ وَالنِّسْوَةِ الثَّلَاثِ «لَا يُظْلَمْنَ حَقًّا وَلَا يُسْتَكْرَهْنَ عَلَى نِكَاحٍ وَكُلُّ مُؤْمِنٍ أَوْ مُسْلِمٍ لَهُنَّ وَلِيٌّ وَنَاصِرٌ أَحْسَنَّ فَلَا يُسِئْنَ»

✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ and prayed part of the prayer with him. When he finished the prayer, I stood up, and he looked at me—and she was a tall woman—and said, "If the son of this woman was fighting from behind the barrier." She said, "By Allah, it was indeed so, O Messenger of Allah, but he died." She said, "Write a document for me," and I had three daughters with me. So he wrote: From Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, to Qaylah and the three women: "They shall not be wronged in any right, nor shall they be compelled into marriage. Every believer or Muslim is a guardian and helper for them. If they do well, let them not do evil."
