✧ While the people were in al-Madinah with no alarm, the Messenger of God ﷺ came out, prayed the noon prayer, then turned walking until he ascended the pulpit. The people were alarmed by that. When he saw that in their faces, he said, 'O people, I did not come out for a matter to alarm you, but a matter came to me that made me happy, and I wanted to inform you of the joy of your Prophet. Tamim al-Dari told me that some paternal cousins of his went to sea, and their ship brought them to an island they did not recognize. They went out walking, and there was a being with so much hair that they did not know whether it was male or female. They said, "Who are you?" It said, "I am al-Jassasa." They said, "Tell us." It said, "Go to the monastery, for in it is a man who is longing for you to speak to him." They entered the monastery, and there was a bound man groaning severely. He said, "Who are you?" They said, "From the people of Palestine, from the island of the Arabs." He said, "Has their Prophet come out yet?" They said, "Yes." He said, "What has he done?" They said, "Some people pledged allegiance to him, and some people parted from him. He fought those of his companions who had pledged allegiance to him until the people of stone and mud gave him submission." He said, "What has the lake of Tiberias done?" They said, "It is full, its sides overflowing." He said, "What has the spring of Zughar done?" They said, "Its sides are overflowing." He said, "What have the date palms between Uman and Baysan done?" They said, "They are bearing fruit." He said, "If I were to escape from these bonds of mine, I would tread the earth, except Taybah." The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "It is Taybah," twice. "Al-Madinah. There is no road or narrow place or wide place, easy or difficult in it, but that an angel stands over it with a drawn sword. If he wanted to enter it, he would strike his face with the sword." Amir said: I met Muharrar b. Abi Hurayrah and narrated this to him. He said, 'Did she add anything to it?' I said, 'No.' He said, 'She spoke the truth. I bear witness that Abu Hurayrah narrated to me and added to it.' He said: Then he said, 'The sea of Syria — what is it? The sea of Iraq — what is it?' Then he pointed with his hand towards the east twenty times. Then I met Abdullah b. Abi Bakr and narrated this to him. He said, 'Did she add anything to it for you?' I said, 'No.' He said, 'She spoke the truth. I bear witness that Aisha narrated to me, but she said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "And in al-Madinah: what is in it?"'
