✧ I heard the caller of the Messenger of God ﷺ announcing that prayer was to be held in congregation. I went out with a group of women from the Ansar until we came to the mosque, and the Messenger of God ﷺ led us in the noon prayer. Then he ascended the pulpit and turned his face to us, smiling. Then he said, 'By God, I have not gathered you for desire or fear, but for a report that Tamim al-Dari told me. He came to me, accepted Islam, and pledged allegiance. He told me that he sailed with thirty men from Lakhm and Judham, two tribes of the Arabs from the people of Yemen. They encountered the sea when it was raging, and the waves tossed them for a month. Then it cast them near sunset onto an island of the islands of the sea. There we were met by a shaggy creature whose front could not be distinguished from its back. We said, "What are you, O creature?" God permitted it, and it spoke to us with a sharp, fluent tongue, saying, "I am al-Jassasa." We said, "And what is al-Jassasa?" It said, "Away from me! Go to that monastery at the far end of the island, for in it is a man who is longing for news of you." He said: We went to the monastery, and there was a man the largest we had ever seen and the best in body. His right eye was obliterated, as if it were a piece of phlegm on a plastered wall. His hands were chained to his neck, and his legs were bound with shackles from his knees to his feet. We said to him, "What are you, O man?" He said, "As for my news, you have attained it. But tell me about your news: what brought you to this island? No human being has reached this island since I came out to it." We told him. He said, "Tell me about the lake of Tiberias: what has happened to it?" We said, "About which of its affairs do you ask?" He said, "Has its water dried up? Have wonders appeared in it?" We said, "No." He said, "Indeed, it will happen." Then he was silent for a long time. Then he said, "Tell me about the spring of Zughar: what has happened to it?" We said, "About which of its affairs do you ask?" He said, "Do its people cultivate with it?" We said, "Yes." He said, "Indeed, its water will sink away." Then he was silent for a long time. Then he said, "Tell me about the date palms of Baysan: what has happened to them?" We said, "About which of their affairs do you ask?" He said, "Do they bear fruit?" We said, "Yes." He said, "Indeed, they will not bear fruit." Then he was silent for a long time. Then he said, "Tell me about the unlettered Prophet: what has happened?" We said, "About which of his affairs do you ask?" He said, "Has he appeared yet?" We said, "Yes." He said, "What did the Arabs do with him?" We said, "Some of them fought him, and some of them believed him." He said, "Indeed, whoever believed him, that is better for him." We said, "Tell us your news, O man." He said, "Do you not know me?" We said, "If we knew you, we would not ask you." He said, "I am the Dajjal. It is near that I will be permitted to come out. When I come out, I will tread the islands of the Arabs, all of them, except Makkah and Taybah. Every time I want them, an angel meets me with a drawn sword and repels me from them." Abu al-Ashhab said: Amir said: Fatimah bt. Qays said: I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ raising his hands until we saw the whiteness of his armpits. Then he said, "Shall I not tell you that this is Taybah?" three times. Then he said, "Shall I not tell you that he is in the sea of Syria?" three times. Then he fainted for a while, then recovered, then it was relieved from him, and he said, "Rather, he is in the sea of Iraq. When he comes out, he will come out from a town called Isfahan, from a village of its villages called Ristaqabad. Those who come out in his vanguard will be seventy thousand, wearing the sijan. With him are two rivers: a river of water and a river of fire. Whoever of you reaches that and is told, 'Enter the water,' let him not enter it, for it is fire. And when he is told, 'Enter the fire,' let him enter it, for it is water.'
