✧ I went with a man until we entered upon Fatimah bt. Qays, the sister of al-Dahhak b. Qays. We said, 'O Fatimah, narrate to us a hadith you heard from the Messenger of God ﷺ.' She said, 'Yes.' She fed us fresh dates and gave us drink, then said: 'One day the Messenger of God ﷺ came out and sat on the pulpit, and the people sought refuge with him and gathered around him. He said, "O people, only a piece of news has made me sit." She said: It was a time other than his usual sitting time. Tamim al-Dari came to me today during the midday heat and told me that some paternal cousins of his were thrown by their ship onto an island in the sea, which they did not recognize. They went out walking on it and met something they did not know whether it was a man or a woman because of the hair covering it. They said, "Who are you?" It said, "I am al-Jassasa." They said, "Tell us." It said, "I will not tell you, nor will I ask you. If you want news, go to that monastery," and it pointed to a monastery on the island not far away. We went walking until we entered, and there was a man bound with large, heavy iron, leaning his back against the foot of a mountain. He said, "Who are you?" We said, "People from the Arabs." He said, "What has the unlettered Prophet ﷺ done, the one who is awaited?" We said, "He has come forth." He said, "What has the date palms between Uman and Baysan done?" We said, "They are as they are, bearing fruit and being eaten." He said, "What has the spring of Zughar done?" We said, "It is as it was." He said, "What has the lake of Tiberias done?" We said, "It is full." He struck the sole of his foot with his hand and said, "If I were to come out of this place of mine, I would not leave any spot on earth without treading on it, except Makkah and Taybah." Then he sighed and moved through the mountain, then fell; then he moved again, farther than that, then fell; then he moved a third time and went into the mountain, then fell. We said, "What is wrong with him? May God not bless him." It seemed that the Messenger of God ﷺ was pleased by his mention of Makkah and Taybah. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ said, "Taybah — twice — the Dajjal will not enter it. There is no mountain pass there but an angel with a drawn sword is upon it, and likewise from the direction of Yemen." Then he pointed with his hand: "And the sleeve of his shirt —" He made the gesture close to thirty times towards the direction of Iraq, and that is close to thirty times.'
