حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَحْتَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي مَخْزُومٍ فَطَلَّقَهَا ألْبَتَّةَ فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ تَبْتَغِي النَّفَقَةَ فَقَالُوا لَيْسَتْ عَلَيْنَا نَفَقَةٌ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «لَيْسَتْ لَكِ عَلَيْهِمْ نَفَقَةٌ وَعَلَيْكِ الْعِدَّةُ فَانْتَقِلِي إِلَى أُمِّ شَرِيكٍ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ أُمَّ شَرِيكٍ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهَا إِخْوَانُهَا مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ لَا وَلَكِنِ انْتَقِلِي إِلَى ابْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ فَإِنَّهُ رَجُلٌ أَعْمَى إِنْ وَضَعْتِ ثِيَابَكِ لَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا وَلَا تُفَوِّتِينَا بِنَفْسِكِ» فَلَمَّا حَلَّتْ ذَكَرَتْ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَأَبَا جَهْمٍ خَطَبَاهَا فَقَالَ «أَمَّا مُعَاوِيَةُ فَلَا مَالَ لَهُ وَأَمَّا أَبَا جَهْمٍ فَلَا يَضَعُ عَصَاهُ عَنْ عَاتِقِهِ فَأَيْنَ أَنْتِ مِنْ أُسَامَةَ؟» فَكَأَنَّ أَهْلَهَا كَرِهُوا ذَلِكَ فَقَالَتْ وَاللهِ مَا أَنْكِحُ إِلَّا مَا قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَكَحَتْهُ

✧ Al-Qaʿnabi narrated to us: ʿAbd al-ʿAziz b. Muhammad narrated to us from Muhammad b. ʿAmr from Abu Salamah from Fatimah bint Qays: She was married to a man from Banu Makhzum, and he divorced her irrevocably. She sent to his family seeking maintenance, and they said, "You have no maintenance from us." That reached the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he said, "You have no maintenance from them, and you must observe the waiting period. Move to Umm Sharik." Then he said, "Umm Sharik receives visits from her brothers among the Emigrants. No, rather move to Ibn Umm Maktum, for he is a blind man; if you put down your garments, he will not see anything. And do not miss us with regard to yourself." When she became free, she mentioned that Muʿawiyah b. Abi Sufyan and Abu Jahm had proposed to her. He said, "As for Muʿawiyah, he has no wealth; and as for Abu Jahm, he does not put down his staff from his shoulder. Where are you with regard to Usamah?" Her family seemed to dislike that, but she said, "By God, I will not marry except what the Messenger of God ﷺ told me," so she married him.
