حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَا ثنا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتِ رُقَيْقَةَ قَالَتْ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نِسْوَةٍ نُبَايِعُهُ فَقُلْنَ نُبَايِعُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نُشْرِكَ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا نَسْرِقَ وَلَا نَزْنِي وَلَا نَقْتُلَ أَوْلَادَنَا وَلَا نَأْتِيَ بِبُهْتَانٍ نَفْتَرِيَهِ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَأَرْجُلِنَا وَلَا نَعْصِيَكَ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ» فَقُلْنَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا هَلُمَّ فَلْنُبايِعُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ أَوْ مِثْلُ قُولِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ»

✧ Al-Qaʿnabī narrated to us from Mālik (ḥ). And Abū Yazīd al-Qarāṭīsī narrated to us: ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Ḥakam narrated to us (ḥ). And Bakr b. Sahl narrated to us: ʿAbdullāh b. Yūsuf narrated to us. They both said: Mālik b. Anas narrated to us from Muḥammad b. al-Munkadir from Umaymah bt. Ruqayqah, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ among a group of women to give him allegiance. We said: We give you allegiance, O Messenger of Allah, that we will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, will not commit adultery, will not kill our children, will not bring slander that we fabricate between our hands and feet, and will not disobey you in what is good. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “In what you are able and can bear.” We said: Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than ourselves. Come, let us give you allegiance, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “I do not shake hands with women. My word to a hundred women is like my word to one woman, or the like of my word to one woman.”
