حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي أُمَيْمَةُ بِنْتُ رُقَيْقَةَ قَالَتْ
أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي نِسْوَةٍ أُبَايِعُهُ فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْنَا مَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ «لَا تَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا تَزْنِينَ وَلَا تَقْتُلْنَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ وَلَا تَأْتِينَ بِبُهْتَانٍ تَفْتَرِينَهُ» ثُمَّ قَالَ لَنَا «فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ» قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا تُصَافِحُنَا؟ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ»

✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ among a group of women to give him allegiance. He stipulated upon us what is in the Qur’an: “that you do not steal, do not commit adultery, do not kill your children, and do not bring slander that you fabricate.” Then he said to us: “In what you are able and can bear.” We said: Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than ourselves. We said: O Messenger of Allah, will you not shake hands with us? He said: “I do not shake hands with women. My word to one woman is like my word to a hundred women.”
