حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ثنا دَهْثَمُ بْنُ قُرَّانٍ عَنْ عَقِيلِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ مَوْلَى جَارِيَةَ بْنِ ظُفُرَ عَنْ جَارِيَةَ بْنِ ظُفُرَ
أَنَّ أَخَوَيْنِ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمَا حِظَارٌ وَسَطَ دَارٍ فَمَاتَا وَتَرَكَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَقِبًا فَادَّعَى عَقِبُ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا أَنَّ الْحِظَارَ لَهُ دُونَ صَاحِبِهِ فَاخْتَصَمَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَرْسَلَ مَعَهُمَا حُذَيْفَةَ بْنَ الْيَمَانِ فَقَضَى بِالْحِظَارِ لِمَنْ وَجَدَ مَعَاقِدَ الْقِمْطِ تَلِيهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «أَصَبْتَ أَوْ أَحْسَنْتَ»

✧ Two brothers had a fence in the middle of a house, and they died, each leaving descendants. The descendants of each claimed that the fence belonged to him alone. They disputed before the Prophet ﷺ, so he sent Hudhayfah b. al-Yaman with them, and he ruled that the fence belonged to the one on whose side the knots of the cords were found. Then he returned to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him, and he said: "You have judged correctly, or: You have done well."
