حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْباعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ يُخْبِرُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ
أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعِنْدَهَا أُخْتُهَا أَسْمَاءُ وَعَلَيْهَا ثِيَابٌ سَابِغَةٌ وَاسِعَةُ الْأَكِمَّةِ فَلَمَّا نَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فَخَرَجَ فَقَالَتْ لَهَا عَائِشَةُ تَنَحَّيْ فَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْكِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَمْرًا كَرِهَهُ فَفَتَحَتْ فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلَتْهُ عَائِشَةُ لِمَ قَامَ؟ فَقَالَ «أَوَ لَمْ تَرَيْ إِلَى هَيَّأَتِهَا إِنْهُ لَيْسَ لِلْمَرْأَةِ الْمُسْلِمَةِ أَنْ يَبْدُو مِنْهَا إِلَّا هَكَذَا» وَأَخَذَ كُمَّيْهِ فَغَطَّى بِهِمَا ظُهُورَ كَفَّيْهِ حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْدُ مِنْ كَفَّيْهِ إِلَّا أَصَابِعُهُ ثُمَّ نَصَبَ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى صُدْغَيْهِ حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْدُ إِلَّا وَجْهُهُ

✧ She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered one day upon A'ishah bint Abi Bakr while her sister Asma' was with her, wearing flowing garments with wide sleeves. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw her, he stood up and left. A'ishah said to her, "Move aside, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw something in you that he disliked." She moved aside, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered. A'ishah asked him why he had left. He said, "Did you not see her appearance? It is not for a Muslim woman to show anything but this." He took his sleeves and covered the backs of his hands so that only his fingers showed, then placed his palms on his temples so that only his face showed.
