حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ثنا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ وَمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَتْ أَتَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حِينَ كَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَإِذَا النَّاسُ قِيَامٌ يُصَلُّونَ فَإِذَا هِيَ قَائِمَةٌ فَقُلْتُ مَا لِلنَّاسِ؟ فَأَشَارَتْ بِيَدِهَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَقَالَتْ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ فَقُلْتُ آيَةٌ؟ وَأَشَارَتْ أَيْ نَعَمْ قَالَتْ فَقُمْتُ حَتَّى جَاءَنِي الْغَشْيُ فَجَعَلْتُ أَصُبُّ فَوْقَ رَأْسِي الْمَاءَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ كُنْتُ لَمْ أَرَهُ إِلَّا قَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا حَتَّى الْجَنَّةِ وَالنَّارِ فَإِنَّهُ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّكُمْ تُفْتَنُونَ فِي الْقُبُورِ مِثْلَ أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدَّجَّالِ لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ ذَلِكَ قَالَتْ يُؤْتَى أَحَدُكُمْ فَيُقَالُ مَا عِلْمُكَ بِهَذَا الرَّجُلِ؟ فَأَمَّا الْمُؤْمِنُ أَوِ الْمُوقِنُ لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ ذَلِكَ قَالَتْ فَيَقُولُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جَاءَنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالْهُدَى فَأَجَبْنَا وَآمَنَّا وَاتَّبَعْنَا فَيُقَالُ لَهُ نَمْ صَالِحًا قَدْ عَلِمْنَا أَنْ كُنْتَ لَمُؤْمِنًا وَأَمَّا الْمُنَافِقُ أَوِ الْمُرْتَابُ لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ ذَلِكَ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ فَيَقُولُ لَا أَدْرِي سَمِعْتُ النَّاسَ يَقُولُونَ شَيْئًا فَقُلْتُهُ

✧ Al-Qa‘nabi narrated to us from Malik. And Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi narrated to us: ‘Abd Allah b. ‘Abd al-Hakam narrated to us: Malik b. Anas and Mufaddal b. Fadalah narrated to us from Hisham b. ‘Urwah, from Fatimah bt. al-Mundhir, from Asma’ bt. Abi Bakr, who said: I came to A’ishah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, when the sun was eclipsed, and the people were standing in prayer, and she too was standing. I said, “What is wrong with the people?” She gestured with her hand toward the sky and said, “Glory be to God.” I said, “A sign?” She gestured, meaning yes. She said: I stood until I nearly fainted, and I began pouring water over my head. The Messenger of God ﷺ praised God and then said, “There is nothing that I had not seen before except that I have seen it in this station of mine, even Paradise and Hellfire. It has been revealed to me that you will be tested in the graves with a trial like or close to the trial of the Dajjal” — I do not know which of these she said. “One of you will be approached and asked, ‘What knowledge do you have of this man?’ As for the believer or the one who is certain — I do not know which she said — he will say, ‘Muhammad is the Messenger of God ﷺ. He came to us with clear proofs and guidance, and we responded, believed, and followed.’ Then it will be said to him, ‘Sleep righteously; we already knew that you were a believer.’ As for the hypocrite or the doubter — I do not know which Asma’ said — he will say, ‘I do not know; I heard people saying something, so I said it.’”
