حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَتْ

كُسِفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فِي حُجْرَتِهَا وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ فَقُلْتُ يَا عَائِشَةُ مَا شَأْنُ النَّاسِ فَقَالَتْ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَأَشَارَتْ بِيَدِهَا قُلْتُ آيَةٌ؟ قَالَتْ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَأَشَارَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا تَحْكِي أَيْ نَعَمْ وَأَوْمَأَ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ بِرَأْسِهِ

✧ The sun was eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ, so I entered upon A’ishah in her chamber while the Prophet ﷺ was praying with the people. I said, “O A’ishah, what is wrong with the people?” She said, “Glory be to God,” and she gestured with her hand. I said, “A sign?” She said, “Glory be to God,” and she gestured with her head, meaning yes. Abu al-Nu‘man also nodded with his head.
