حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ وَأُمَّ سَلَمَةَ تَذْكُرَانِ
أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَتْ أَنَّ ابْنَةً لَهَا تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا فَاشْتَكَتْ عَيْنَيْهَا وَهِيَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَكْحُلَهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قَدْ كَانَتْ إِحْدَاكُنَّ تَرْمِي بِالْبَعْرَةِ عِنْدَ رَأْسِ الْحَوْلِ وَإِنَّمَا هِيَ أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا»

✧ A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that a daughter of hers had lost her husband and complained of her eyes, and she wanted to apply kohl to her. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "One of you used to throw a dung pellet at the head of the year, but it is only four months and ten [days]."
