حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ نَبْهَانَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ
كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَعِنْدَهُ مَيْمُونَةُ فَأَقْبَلَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْثُومٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «احْتَجِبَا مِنْهُ» فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَيْسَ بِأَعْمَى لَا يُبْصِرُنَا وَلَا يَعْرِفُنَا؟ فَقَالَ «وَإِنْ أَنْتُمَا أَلَسْتُمَا تُبْصِرَانِهِ؟»

✧ I was with the Messenger of God ﷺ, and Maymunah was with him, when Ibn Umm Maktum approached. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Veil yourselves from him.” We said: “O Messenger of God, is he not blind, unable to see us or recognize us?” He said: “Are you two not able to see him?”
