Chain of narrators
  1. Abū Hārūn Mūsá b. Muḥammad b. Kathīr al-Siraynī
  2. Muḥammad b. Yazīd b. Khunays al-Makkī

✧ Sufyān said to him: 'Repeat to me the hadith of Umm Ṣāliḥ.' He said: 'Umm Ṣāliḥ narrated to me.' And ʿAbbās b. Muḥammad al-Mujāshiʿī narrated to us: Muḥammad b. Abī Yaʿqūb al-Kirmānī narrated to us: Muḥammad b. Yazīd b. Khunays al-Makkī narrated to us, from Saʿīd b. Ḥassān, who said: Umm Ṣāliḥ narrated to me, from Ṣafiyya bt. Shayba, from Umm Ḥabība, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, who said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'All the speech of the son of Adam is against him, not for him, except commanding good, forbidding evil, or remembrance of God.' A man among the people said: 'How severe this hadith is!' Sufyān al-Thawrī said: 'And what is its severity? Has not your Prophet ﷺ come to you from your Lord ﷻ, and He said: "On the day the Spirit and the angels stand in rows, they will not speak except one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he speaks what is right. That is the True Day" [78:38]? And He said: "There is no good in much of their private conversation, except for one who commands charity, or good, or reconciliation between people" [4:114], to the end of the verse.'
