حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ
أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ انْكِحْ أُخْتِي بِنْتَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَوَ تُحِبِّينَ ذَلِكَ؟» قَالَتْ مَا أَنَا بِمُخْلِيَةٍ وَخَيْرُ مَنْ شَرِكَنِي فِي خَيْرٍ أُخْتِي قَالَ «إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَا يَحِلُّ لِي» قَالَتْ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّا لَنُحَدَّثُ أَنَّكَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَنْكِحَ دُرَّةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَ «بِنْتَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَوَاللهِ لَوْ لَمْ تَكُنْ رَبِيبَتِي مَا حَلَّتْ لِي إِنَّهَا لَابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ لَقَدْ أَرْضَعَتْنِي وَإِيَّاهَا ثُوَيْبَةُ فَلَا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ بَنَاتِكُنَّ وَلَا أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ»

✧ Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said: "O Messenger of God, marry my sister, the daughter of Abu Sufyan." The Messenger of God ﷺ said to her: "Would you like that?" She said: "I am not leaving you alone, and the best one to share good with me is my sister." He said: "That is not lawful for me." She said: "By God, we have been told that you want to marry Durrah bint Abi Salamah." He said: "The daughter of Umm Salamah?" She said: "Yes." He said: "By God, even if she were not my stepdaughter, she would not be lawful for me, for she is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding. Thuwaybah nursed me and her. So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters."
