حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ثنا عَمِّي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَمِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ

أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهَا أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ انْكِحْ أُخْتِي بِنْتَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَزَعَمَتْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَهَا «أَوَ تُحِبِّينَ ذَلِكَ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَسْتُ لَكَ بِمُخْلِيَةٍ وَأَحَبُّ مَنْ شَرِكَنِي فِي خَيْرٍ أُخْتِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَا يَحِلُّ لِي» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا لَنَتَحَدَّثُ أَنَّكَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَنْكِحَ دُرَّةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَأَيْمُ اللهِ لَوْ أَنَّهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ رَبِيبَتِي فِي حِجْرِي لَمَا حَلَّتْ لِي لِأَنَّهَا بِنْتُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ أَرْضَعَتْنِي وَأَبَا سَلَمَةَ ثُوَيْبَةُ فَلَا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ بَنَاتِكُنَّ وَلَا أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ»

✧ Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, informed her that she said: "O Messenger of God, marry my sister, the daughter of Abu Sufyan." She claimed that the Messenger of God ﷺ said to her: "Would you like that?" She said: "Yes, O Messenger of God, I am not leaving you alone, and the one I would love to share good with me is my sister." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "That is not lawful for me." I said: "O Messenger of God, we have been talking that you want to marry Durrah bint Abi Salamah." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "The daughter of Abu Salamah?" She said: "Yes." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "By God, even if she were not my stepdaughter in my care, she would not be lawful for me, because she is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding. Thuwaybah nursed me and Abu Salamah. So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters."
