✧ Aisha bt. Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

«مِنْ نِعْمَةِ اللهِ عَلَيَّ وَبَلَائِهِ الْحَسَنِ عِنْدِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تُوُفِّيَ فِي بَيْتِي وَفِي يَوْمِي وَقُبِضَ بَيْنَ سَحْرِي وَنَحْرِي وَجُمِعَ بَيْنَ رِيقِي وَرِيقِهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي قُبِضَ فِيهِ» قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا هَذَا فِي بَيْتِكِ وَفِي يَوْمِكِ وَبَيْنَ سَحْرِكِ وَنَحْرِكِ فَكَيْفَ جُمِعَ بَيْنَ رِيقِكِ وَرِيقِهِ؟ قَالَتْ «دَخَلَ عَلَيُّ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ غَدَاةَ يَوْمِ الِإثْنَيْنِ وَفِي يَدِهِ سِوَاكٌ رَطْبٌ فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ شَاخِصًا بِبَصَرِهِ إِلَيْهِ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُولَعُ بِالسِّوَاكِ» فَقُلْتُ «اقْسِمْهُ وَنَاوِلْنِيهِ» فَقَسَمَهُ بِاثْنَيْنِ وَنَاوَلَنِيهِ فَمَضَغْتُهُ أُلَيِّنُهُ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلْتُهُ فِي فِيِّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَتَسَوَّكَ بِهِ وَجُمِعَ بَيْنَ رِيقِي وَرِيقِهِ

✧ 'Among Allah's blessings upon me and His good favor toward me is that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died in my house and on my day, and was taken between my chest and neck, and my saliva was joined with his on the day he was taken.' He said: I said to her, 'This being in your house and on your day and between your chest and neck, how was your saliva joined with his?' She said, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr entered upon me on the morning of Monday with a fresh siwak in his hand. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ staring at it, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was fond of the siwak.' So I said, 'Split it and hand it to me.' He split it in two and handed it to me. I chewed it to soften it, then I put it in the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ mouth, and he used it as a siwak. Thus my saliva was joined with his.'
