حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَيْلِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ يَقُولُ خَرَجَ الْحُسَيْنُ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ أَرْضَهُ الَّتِي بِظَاهِرِ الْحَرَّةِ وَنَحْنُ نَمْشِي إِذْ أَدْرَكْنَا النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ بَشِيرٍ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ فَنَزَلَ فَقَرَّبَهَا إِلَى الْحُسَيْنِ فَقَالَ ارْكَبْ

يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَقْسَامِ النُّعْمَانِ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى أَطَاعَ لَهُ الْحُسَيْنُ بِالرُّكُوبِ قَالَ أَمَا إِذْ أَقْسَمْتَ فَقَدْ كَلَّفْتَنِي مَا أَكْرَهُ فَارْكَبْ عَلَى صَدْرِ دَابَّتِكَ فَسَأُرْدِفُكَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ تَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الرَّجُلُ أَحَقُّ بِصَدْرِ دَابَّتِهِ وَصَدْرِ فِرَاشِهِ وَالصَّلَاةِ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ إِلَّا إِمَامًا يَجْمَعُ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهِ» فَقَالَ النُّعْمَانُ صَدَقَتْ بِنْتُ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولَ اللهِ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي بَشِيرًا يَقُولُ كَمَا قَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ َ «إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ فَرَكِبَ حُسَيْنٌ عَلَى السَّرْجِ وَرِدْفُهُ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ»

✧ O Abdullah, he disliked that. That remained among the oaths of al-Nu'man upon him until al-Husayn obeyed him concerning riding. He said, "Since you have sworn, you have burdened me with what I dislike. Ride on the front of your mount and I will ride behind you, for I heard Fatimah bt. Muhammad ﷺ say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'A man is more entitled to the front of his mount and the front of his bed, and to pray in his own home, except an imam who gathers the people to him.'" Al-Nu'man said, "The daughter of Muhammad the Messenger of Allah has spoken truly. I heard my father Bashir say as Fatimah said, and the Messenger of Allah said, 'except one who gives permission.' So Husayn rode on the saddle and the Ansari rode behind him."
